Street fashion

I saw this guy on the street the other day, he looked pretty good in his L2-B jacket.

New blog banner!

So what the heck does Giblote (the name of this blog) mean anyways? The real spelling is "gibelotte", and it's the name of a fish soup from the town of Sorel in Quebec. When I was a kid, every time we'd ask my dad what was for supper, he'd answer "Giblote!", which as far as we knew was the name of some unknown and totally gross-sounding foreign dish. I finally decided to look it up and render it for my blog banner. The fish used in the dish is called a "barbotte", fyi.

Happy Easter

A little gouache present for a friend's baby's first birthday. Scanner didn't work so photo had to do.

The Towers

What's this, an update!? Better believe it, baby. Nothing fancy here, just a little family caricature I did for my friend Becki.

My Film!

Well I finally decided to put it online, it's pretty much as finished as it's gonna get for the time being. Enjoy!

Friends at Emma's cottage

Spent an awesome week-end at Emma's cottage, got to hang out with good friends, and got to meet some new ones as well! Here they are, save for Ryan and Kyle who managed to evade my scrutinous pencil. I hadn't sketched people in a while, it's really, really fun! :D

School's out forever

Well, it's over! Here are some shots from my film, it's almost done now but there's still a good amount of clean-up and coloring to do on some of the animation (about 35 seconds worth, out of 2:12min). It's been a crazy end of year, went by in a blur. I'm excited to see what the future holds :)

Film poster!

I didn't want to divulge too much about my film's plot on my blog too soon, but I guess we're close enough to the end of the semester to allow for some leakage. Probably most people who view this blog know what my film's about anyways, for the others, you'll have to wonder!

A quick dash of kitsch :D

I was listening to some happy love songs tonight and that's what came out. Recently I was reading a book that denounced kitsch as being illusory (well, it kind of is by definition, but anyways), and well, what can I say, I still believe in it. It's not because shitty stuff exists that happy corny stuff is fake! Anyhoo, I kinda like this sketch, maybe I'll finish it if I have time.

Oldish Winter Fair stuff

Those were drawn at the Ontario Royal Winter Fair this November, I never got around to post them, until now! In other news I'm still working away on my film, I have about 75% of the rough animation done so far, I'm excited about how it's looking so far :). Cheers!

A late Christmas!

Here's a Christmas gift I drew for my friend Abbey, it's her with her film's characters, freakishly cute! Colored pencils are fun.

Corteo

I saw this awesome Cirque du Soleil show on TV the other day, these were done while watching it. I really really love the art direction of this show, it's like a mix of baroque art and old Italian circus and gypsy culture, insane!

First scene!

Well, here it is, the first scene of my film... completed!... for now, at least. All my layouts are done, the color keys are done, so now I'm just painting away and trying to make those BGs look pretty, while being well suited to showcase the animation. This scene has no animation though, so it just has to look nice and set the mood, hopefully. I still have about 22 of these to go, hopefully I can get them done this week and then I'll have all of next semester to concentrate on animation only, yipee!!! :D

Russian clowns

I was watching a circus show on TV yesterday and those awesome clowns called Lizedei had a pretty funny number, it inspired me to draw this. Enjoy!

Some lifedrawing!

These are all 20 minute poses. We're so fortunate at Sheridan to have such amazing models and model coordinators, gotta make the most of it while I'm still here. In other news the film is going well, I'm about halfway through my rough layouts and I started a bit of animation here and there... It's so much fun!!! :D Later!
