First scene!

Well, here it is, the first scene of my film... completed!... for now, at least. All my layouts are done, the color keys are done, so now I'm just painting away and trying to make those BGs look pretty, while being well suited to showcase the animation. This scene has no animation though, so it just has to look nice and set the mood, hopefully. I still have about 22 of these to go, hopefully I can get them done this week and then I'll have all of next semester to concentrate on animation only, yipee!!! :D

Russian clowns

I was watching a circus show on TV yesterday and those awesome clowns called Lizedei had a pretty funny number, it inspired me to draw this. Enjoy!

Some lifedrawing!

These are all 20 minute poses. We're so fortunate at Sheridan to have such amazing models and model coordinators, gotta make the most of it while I'm still here. In other news the film is going well, I'm about halfway through my rough layouts and I started a bit of animation here and there... It's so much fun!!! :D Later!

Character color studies

I took out my gouache set today and played around a bit, it was fun! I was trying to do that nice flat lineless style you see a lot in Disney and Pixar concept art. I don't think I really got it, but I kinda like the result anyway. Hope you enjoy!

Some stuff from my mid-term portfolio, 10-20 minutes. Hope you like!

The Nightingale

This was an assignement for my elective class "Illustrations of the Romantic Period". The first image is based on John Clare's The Nightingale's Nest and the second on Samuel Coleridge's The Nightingale. I really love using watercolors, it had been a while since I'd done it. If anyone's wondering, btw, watercolor is ALL ABOUT what paper you use. I used a cheap paper to do some tests for this and that totally sucked, but those here were done on Arches Coldpressed paper, which was total bliss. Later!

Storyboards!

Some clean boards for my film, I got a bit carried away with the amount of detail, but I figure it'll come in handy when I'm doing layouts. And I just happen to like drawing details too. I should be done with this 2nd pass on the boards by the week-end, then I'll spend 2-3 weeks trying to get the hell critiqued out of it and revising whatever should be revised, and then hopefully it's on to production!

Some concept animation thumbnails

Not much to update with this week, I've been mainly concentrating on my storyboards and leicca reel (with some lifedrawing here and there) these days. But here are some super rough poses for 2 scenes in the film. Enjoy!

Christine, Jeff, livingroom study and horsies

Wooh! I've been back in shcool for a week and it's going great! I'm almost done with my first pass on my storyboards for my film, and I'm starting to get my character designs a bit more fleshed out. Also on the side I've been trying to draw horses from memory, it's fun! They still look a bit off here and there but I'm getting there, I think.

A nice car ride

This pic was inspired by the same song that inspired me about exactly one year ago, "Deux par deux rassemblés" by Pierre Lapointe (you can see the previous pic in the August 2006 archives). It's my first time designing a car, it's pretty fun!

Garden Flower

Woah so it's been a while since my last update. Anyway, I had some time to draw last week-end and I felt like using my markers, here's the result. I think her neck is too long and her face doen'st totally fit the whole thing, but eh, it's something for fun. Later!

Otokonoko

Hello world! Sorry for the lack of updates blablabla... Anyway, I've been in Halifax for 3 weeks now, interning at Copernicus Studio, and it's been pretty sweet so far. The workload in my department has been kinda light recently though, so I'm taking a bit of time to train on my own or to just draw my own stuff. So yeah, I'll try to post some interesting stuff shortly, meanwhile delight in my excellent Windows Paint creation. I've been taking Japanese classes during the evenings and week-end, I guess I was inspired by that!

An online version will be posted within the next week, so be sure to keep checking our blog for it to pop up. Go check it out now too and marvel at our trailer poster!

Some birds after work.

They just looked kinda plain without ties, so there you have it, office birds! :D

I bought a guitar! And stuff.

I bought a guitar this week-end! It's an acoustic and is nothing like that drawing here, but hey, guitars are cool!

A character for a potential story I'm developping for my 4th year film. He has a secret life!

This last one is dedicated to Sarah who had to sit through a very annoying conversation recently.

Demo Reel

Here it is, my demo reel! You tube made it a bit slower than it really is, but it still works alright. Enjoy!

Taxi

There are a lot of problems with this drawing but eh, it's a doodle. Aah, it's past my bedtime again, gotta get up early tommorow to work on the group film. Anyway, uh, I'm checking out now, peace.

On a roll!

Woooh two posts in one night, I'm on fire. I wanted to try getting more intense colors without resorting to any photoshop tricks, there it is. I should go to bed now.

Woodsmen

French Canadian woodsmen! I think I might use the middle one for the big character assignment in our 3D class this semester, we'll see if he makes the cut.
